The Incredible Shrinking Farmers

There's one territory where my population has shrunk to 1, and steadfastly refuses to grow.

When I first captured it there were the usual effects, but since they wore off the population shrank anyway.

The images show two consecutive turns where the population should have grown, but hasn't. Any ideas? Bug or some mechanic I don't understand?

The others regions are probably siphoning away the current stockpile. It should fix itself after some turns, if others regions also produce food.

In this case it remained at 1 pop for the rest of the game - the grey stockpile bar even overtook the green growth one! Others in the province grew normally.

However, I've not had this problem in any subsequent game. If it happens again I'll keep a savegame.

I just had the same happened to me. The pop in the region inexpicably drops and stays at 1 and all buildings save 1 disapear.

I could swear the region was much more developped than that and had many buildings and pops like all my other regions. The region is in a province with positive food production for all regions and the tooltips shows positive food income for this region and expected growth (screens attached).

I don't know when this happened, I just randomly found out by checking all my regions one by one for something else.
Only thing I can remember about this region, it was *maybe* occupied by Macedonia but that was 100+ turns ago and I took back the region quickly after a couple of turns. But I'm not sure, maybe it was an adjacent region.
This could be it, because I had something similar but not quite happening in another region. It was conquered by an enemy. It had 8+ population. When I took it back after a few turns, it dropped to like 3 or 6 pop and I was very annoyed. But I don't remember it loosing buildings and pop growed again normally.

I have saves from turns 157 and 183 showing the problem. The pop stays at 1. Cant attach them even zipped, tell me where I can send them.

This happens whenever there are only slaves in a region, it will never grow again.

Yep, that's it - I've just encountered this again.

I suggest that's a bug - during any population shrinkage, the last citizen should be preserved. Or else there should be some sort of population transfer mechanic.
