Is it just me...

I have played OOB for a long while and do enjoy the game and campaigns very much. I replay them in as many different ways I can.

My point is this.

My troops have always fought valiantly  , overcome the enemy  , destroyed them in fact  , kept a good source of supply and have progressed to earn a good level of experience  .
Despite smashing the enemy each scenario and gaining most if not all of the objectives and supply areas, in the majority of campaigns, each new turn, there is the enemy facing me all with full capacity of 10/11/12.

Why should my troops sometimes face command point shortage and supply shortage, despite winning the previous scenario and smashing the enemy but, at times not have the full amount of command points or supply to enable my troops to enter the battlefield at 10/11/12 capacity? In very few scenarios you face a weakened enemy and if you do, it will only be one or two units.

This is not a criticism, but if, in most defensive scenarios where we are the player, there are supply and command point restirctions. The enemy always seems to be fully prepared and armed in the reverse situation.

This is not realistic in my opinion and makes each scenario a slog as you have to wait to resupply and arm up to be able to progress.
I appreciate that some campaigns/scenarios have historical restrictions, but why do they not apply to the enemy as well?

Mate, campaign play is like some alternate reality where the normal rules of space and time often don't apply, that's why I never play campaigns and only play single standalone scenarios..:)

Well, you do get bonuses in the following missions through spec points, experienced units, new core units, enemy units in smaller numbers etc. And it would be pretty difficult (and time consuming) to design a truly dynamic campaign that fully adapts to your successes. (If not impossible) Also, from a gameplay point of view: Wouldnt it be a bit boring to face easier and easier missions during a campaign? A progression in difficulty along with player abilities is reasonable.
But I am glad you are enjoying OoB so much. :D

Thanks guys.

I was not thinking of an easier campaign and appreciate the difficulty for modelling something like I talk about.

Thinking on this again, playing Erik's campaigns that permit a Draw, as opposed to a instant defeat if you do not achieve every objective, might be a way forward. That would mean that we do not exhaust and deplete our forces attempting to get every objective but still advance. Sorry for changing my original comment, but thinking again, perhaps there is a way where we can advance without defeat but still keep a decent level of resources. For example, if I felt that I had not played that well, it would be nice to know that even if I did not achieve every objective, I still advance, no matter if the enemy is still on 10/11/12; unless of course I did really badly!!! Perhaps at least 75% of objectives or something.

Anyways; my observation does not distract from my enjoyment of the game. I play the campaigns different ways each time and learn something new.

Regarding just playing scenarios, I feel that this does not give me time to develop the forces I want to and gain the necessary experience. That is of course, unless I am missing a trick with this :-)
