AI behavior if you continue playing after losing

I read that you can continue playing after the computer wins a sudden death (3x legacy) victory. If you continue playing, does the AI change at all? I mean, does it keep “trying to win” or does it change its behavior?

I was about to lose a sudden death victory to Macedonia, so I sailed from Britain to Greece and took enough objectives to send him to civil war. But that wasn’t really what I had in mind for this play through.

As far as I can tell, it keeps playing as before - your absence goes largely unnoticed!

Playing as Rome, recently, I get squished by a usurper. Out of curiosity I kept hitting new turn for a while, and watched my usurping replacement plough through Illyria and take out Macedonia (which had been doing well up 'til then), before turning west and pushing well into Gaul. No rest for the AI!

Macedonia won in the game I am playing. I kept playing and nations keep fighting and dying and losing.
