harsh turn (as blizzards or sandstorms.) = no movement
but does the game do the same thing at sea?
if yes
1
You will be warned the turn before a harsh weather turn so you can
plan your operations accordingly
Is this also valid for maritime regions?
2
I understand that we can not face a storm
so storm = no movement
but is there also a mechanism which without warning would hit our fleets at sea? (Random event)
there is the real danger
because whole fleets sank because of that
I do not think the game simulates this because a player might find it unfair to lose his fleet because of a random event

I just read the manual again and the sea is concerned by harsh turn
5.1.2 FIELD TYPES
Coastal 1 (2) 12
Open Sea 2 (3) 16
Ocean 2 (impassable) 16
Values ββin parentheses () apply if hars weather applies to the region
that answers my question
1
remain question 2

No, after some thoughts and for now, a storm at sea won't damages your units. That would be historical, but potentially a frustrating game changer.

Could a compromise not be that fleet damaging storms only occur in harsh weather turns so a player would be taking a known risk of they chose to be out of port given there is notice of a harsh weather turn ?

Very good idea
If risk (harsh weather)
With a small fleet (per exemple 5 ships) = 10 % lost one ship (random)
With a medium fleet (per exemple 10 ships) = 50 % lost one ship (random)
With a largeall fleet (per exemple 20 ships) = 90 % lost one ship (random)
thus it would reinforce the immersion in the game but would not be too penalizing
What do you think ?

Not fundamentally against, but this is probably a setting that would mostly please the hardcore portion of the players. But I like options. Options are good, as you please both population. I think we will probably have a set of options to play the game more 'historically' at some point. But this is not the time, we released yesterday
