Peace options?

Hello all,

I have a question regarding how peace treaties are signed at the end of a war. It seems like the only option is a "status quo" peace--all land remains with whoever occupies it (in fact there seems to be no "occupation" mechanic--once you take a region it is automatically added to your empire). Is there no way to get non-territorial concessions (money, breaking alliances, enforcing client state status, etc.)? Seems like that's something I would like to see--I've been reading a bit on Rome's Macedonian Wars, and until they decided that Macedon was too much trouble to leave alone they only seized the Macedonian navy, took monetary reparations, and made the king of Macedon agree to stay out of Rome's sphere of influence in Greece. It seems odd that land changing hands is the only possible outcome of a war.

Regardless, I'm psyched for the game to come out! This one might very well be one of the few games I don't wait for a sale and just purchase on release :D

Admittedly even if diplomacy has some respectable content, we can do more and better, in the omens are with us...

So this is something which might be expanded post-release? Excellent! I’m glad to see Empires will be getting that kind of post-launch support.

Glad to read that. Diplomacy is the weakest spot in this game and very, very basic. Everything else looks so great.
