DxDiag file attached.

The game is in my Steam library. Integrity of game files has been verified. I get the error 51 message as soon as I click start.

That's a Steam error not an error caused by the game itself.

What possible reason could there be that this is the only game affected by this 'steam error'?

I'm familiar with the generic solutions offered in your link. The only one which (in my opinion) could possibly be applicable is "Solution 3: Installing DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Manually". I've never had to do this for any other game - it's something that I would expect to see happening automatically, as part of the initial installation.

Have you reached your conclusion based on an examination of the DxDiag file, or is this just a pro-forma response?

Am getting this same error 51 message but have not had problems before using/launching game ?

The Dxdiag doesn't help regarding these type of Steam issues. That's a generic Steam issue and as far as I know it can happen with any game on Steam.

I can offer an extra suggestion, verify if your Steam client is updated.

My humble apologies - I won't bore you with the details of what led me to rule it out, but the problem was with my isp's security software. Previous post deleted as irrelevant and just plain wrong.

Solution was simply to create an exception for the game app, @SgtRolfSteiner

I believe that most of the times this error is caused by security software.

If only I knew how to set up an exception for the game in my Security files which as far as I know are unchanged since FOG was working previously ??

What's your anti-virus and firewall?

Its definitely my AV as when I switched it off FOG worked.

I'm sorry but unfortunately I can't help you with TalkTalkSupersafe. I'm not familiar with that Internet security program.
You should contact them and ask how to create exception rules.

Have checked Help files and think I know what to do but cant find which file to Unblock within the Steam Folder any ideas which files/s refer to FOGII ??

You should exclude the game's installation folder if you can.
Regarding individual files, I'd say all the exe files, "FIELDOFGLORY2.EXE" and "autorun.exe".

And also /Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2

Otherwise your options and game saves may not save correctly

I excluded the Steam.exe itself and that seems to have sorted it
