Updater wants to roll my FOG II games back to 1.5.12

I have FOG II (standalone) updated to 1.5.3 Build 10009. When I clicked on Multiplayer (or whatever the appropriate button was) it said I needed to update my copy to the latest version in order to use Multiplayer. When I try to use the updater to get the latest version, it wants to 'update" my copy to 1.5.12.

I'm stuck. Any help is appreciated.

then let it, as its not a roll back, it's an update, as number higher, = 3 then newer version is 12

you have to be on the latest version for multi player

Please do the following:
1. Uninstall the game
2. Download the last game installer file v1.5.12. from the Member's Area
3. Install the game
4. When asked to insert the serial number, please click in the drop down menu "Select a New Product to Install... " and select "Field of Glory II".
Type your "Field of Glory"serial number.
5. Click in the button "Check Serial".
You should see then the name "Field of Glory II" being added to the list of games displayed in the box named "Setup as detected a valid serial number for:".
6. Repeat step 4 and 5 for unlocking all your other DLCs.
7. Then click on the "Next" button in order to proceed with the installation of the base game and your DLCs.

Why does he need to uninstall the game? From the original post it seems like nothing is wrong with his game, he just needs to update to 1.5.12.

I think the original poster is just confused by the version names, he thinks that 1.5.12 sounds like an earlier version than 1.5.3. I have had the same thought myself, it does seem an odd choice for a new version number.

Well, if you have a better suggestion, please offer one.
I can only tell, as I work in tech support, the suggestion I have offered on my previous post always worked, so far, with similar issues.

I did offer an alternative suggestion: just update to 1.5.12!

I am not questioning your expertise, but I think you might have misunderstood the posters problem. From my understanding of his post, he does not have a technical problem, he just thinks that the 1.5.12 update is older than his current 1.5.3 game. I thought I made that clear in my first post.

As I've told, the only solution I know that really works regarding this issue, is the one I've posted. :)
I wish I could have provided with an explanation, but honestly I don't have one.

It seems that we have a completely different understanding of admjack's "problem".

You seem to think that his game is actually stuck.

While I think that he is just confused about the update. He thinks that 1.5.12 is an earlier version than 1.5.3, and is therefore reluctant to use the updater.

Who knows? Perhaps admjack can post again to clarify what exactly is the problem?

Anyway, it is none of my business, and so will not waste any more of your time.

I can see your point. You might be right and I wrong.
Let's hear what admjack got to say. :)

I have the same problem. My present game says version 1.5.3. Game works fine. I purchased Wolves and downloaded it. Download successful. When I unzip Wolves it says installation successful. However, when I start the game I get message that newer version is available v 1.5.12, so i click to install and get the usual error message. In past updates the only way I can install new versions is from my products on Slitherine site. When I unzip this new version 1.5.12 (from the list my products on the Slitherine site), it says installation successful. However, when I then go to the game it still has version 1.5.3.

So at this point, I cannot install new version or update to Wolves. I was a beta tester for Wolves, so can still play beta version with Wolves. It works fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Do I really have to uninstall FOG 2? If I do, do I have to re-install ALL of the updates?

Mac

For your problem (which is different from that of the OP, which is just a misunderstanding), Paulo's advice is the appropriate advice:
VPaulus wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2019 9:15 am Please do the following:
1. Uninstall the game

Note that you don't have to install all of the DLCs separately, you just need to put in your product keys for each of them when you perform the above reinstallation.

I had this problem myself. I think that 1.5.3 is a MOD. It needs to be installed in a specific place to not interfere with the game version. I didn't even realize I had installed a MOD. Follow the instructions by VPaulus and you should be good to go. That's how I did it. Whether or not that MOD works with the current version, I don't know. I didn't try to reinstall that.

1.5.3 is the previous version number of the official game. It is also the version number of the TT Mod. You should never install it in your main game files, but it will give no problems if you follow the installation instructions. It's possible that the guys on this thread had a similar problem to you, but from what they have written it does not appear so.

I don't know. Simply pointing out a possibility. Just trying to help.

Thank you for your wise replies. I apologize for my failure to reply sooner.

It was ENTIRELY my fault. I misread the version number to think it was 1.5.1.2 rather than the 1.5.12 that it actually said. Of course that version is later than 1.5.3. I have since updated the the 1.5.12 and everything is working fine. I am sorry for the controversy I caused.

Have a great day!
