In the FAQ it states for BWg in column that wish to turn 90°:
"... Such a column would need to contract to be 2 bases side-by-side and therefore 80mm square. Then it could turn as it is now 80mm deep, needs to be 2 bases wide once turned, and has exactly that number. ..."

I assume that's supposed to say 'to expand to be 2 bases side-by-side'?

Depends whether you are talking about length or girth. But yes, I would think so.
