Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

Yes I know its a bit early but with release only a few weeks away I am looking to see how much interest there would be in an MP game of FoG Empires starting 7 days after release so everyone can get some time to get familiar (ish) with the mechanics ?
All battles are obviously played out in game as exporting to FOG2 is only possible in single player which I am happy with as it will allow the campaign to proceed at a decent pace.
All you would need to commit to is 1 turn every 48 hours but if all parties have made moves this can be increased.
I am looking to get 8-10 reliable players ready to go.
If interested please add expressions of interest below so I can contact you on release.
The states can be nominated as per the Digital league with each player making 3 choices in preference though this is not necessary until closer to the time of the tournament.
All the best
Ian

I'm interested! I'm one of the playtesters, but I promise I'll go easy you guys ...
I'll volunteer to take Seleucids (IMO one of the more difficult countries to play).

And please make some After Action (or live Action) reports!
If all players are in for a given turn, the game proceed immediately to the next so while everybody is motivated and have some spare time, the game can progress at a brisk pace

Sounds great.
If someone drops out is there a facility to allow the AI to take over their nation ?
Many thanks
Ian

I’m pumped
So cool to see a grand strategy we-go
If the turns are as breezy as Das makes them seem, this could be a game changer for the genre. But we’ll see

Too right.
He is doing the third challenge as the Antigonids this Thursday which should be pretty action packed.
High hopes.

Yes, in one of two ways. if they resign, their faction is immediately set to AI, if they miss (I think) 3 turns, then it defaults

That is very interesting Lokki.
Does that mean a host can set a defined time allowed for players to make turns or is it set by the game as I was looking at a maximum of 48 hours per turn ?

yes, in the beta testing we are using 3 days - which might be a bit generous but helps if someone can only engage on a limited basis for a short period of time. I'm pretty sure you can set less - in effect all this is set by the rules for the Slitherine/Matrix portal for PBEM rather than specific to Empires.
In reality, if you take one of the big factions (Seleucus or Antigonus) then T1 is a bit demanding (unless you automate production etc - but I tend to do that in the mid game). For most nations at that stage you've less than 10 (usually 3-6) regions and probably just one army and one fleet. So setting your orders is quick. Once the game starts I tend to follow my own logic of (1) military orders; (2) review completed builds, set new ones; (3) use the ledger to double check that I can't build somewhere else (most often a population increase); (4) check over decisions; (5) do diplo - if any. Its not till you get to T150+ (going by SP testing) that a turn takes more than a few minutes to structure and set up.
Clearly slower if you are new, but this is a fast playing game (again solitaire) once you are used to the basic mechanics.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
Watching the Dastactic you tube playthroughs there seems a very logical structure to turns.
The intricacies of production to ensure bonuses can be harvested and the juggling of the culture and Decadence mechanics along with facilitation of trade seems to me more time consuming than the military side but we shall see.
Not long now !!
Thanks again
Ian

Lecrop. : Happy to play any nation.
Asty. : Samnites

Updated list of players.....We have 10
The Eastern Med and N.Africa are well covered as is the Middle East so I am thinking a Gaulish tribe and a Roman player would be good along with maybe an English tribe to give Lokki some human competition in Brittannia !

Ya but I have no bid for FOG2 integration
Grand strategy ancients dominions style battle resolution?
With granular result feedback ?
Yeah. That’s fine.
