Hi all,

Here are the results for the 15mm comp held at the 12th Annual ValleyCon last weekend (the annual convention for the Hutt Miniature Wargames Club in Wellington, NZ). The first 2 rounds on Saturday were themed broadly into Classical and Medieval.

78 - Steve Hodgson (Alexandrian Macedonian)
59 - Greg Jennings (Later Low Countries)
48 - Peter Hood (Foederate Roman)
46 - Russell Briant (Classical Greek - Spartan)
42 - Mike Thorn (War of the Roses English - Yorkist Pretender)
39 - Simon McBeth (Medieval Castilian)
35 - Sean Smith (Late Republican Roman)
34 - Craig Byron (Later Ptolemaic)
28 - Andrew van Olphen (Later Carthaginian)
26 - Stephen Ladanyi (Middle Hungarian)

40 - Richard Woolford* (Medieval Crown of Aragon)
20 - Che Tibby* (Later Danish)

* 2 games on Saturday only

Best Presented Army: Russell Briant
Best Sportsman: Craig Byron

Well done to Simon who was playing in his first ancients competition and to Russell and Stephen - 1st FoG comp but both experienced ancients gamers.

Thanks to Allen and all the Hutt boys for another excellent weekend of gaming. :D

Cheers,

Greg

It is interesting to see Later Low Countries come in second. That is not an army that one hears about very often. Hurrah for variety!

I think it is interesting and has some good history too.

Classy, so which tournament points system did you decide on this time?

Thank god, looks like 2009 will be a good year for Field of Glory in New Zealand.

One small error.

Russell Patton should in fact be Russell Briant.

I'm curious about the Low Countries army. What was the composition? Pike or offensive spear? How much artillery, fortifications, longbows, knights?

And is now fixed. Sorry Russell - no idea where that came from!

2 BG of 12 Pike
2 BG of 4 Feudal MAA
1 BG of 4 Burgher MAA
2 BG 4 MF X-Bow
1 BG 6 Longbow + Stakes (not used the entire weekend incidently!)
1 BG 8 HF Halberdiers
1 BG 6 LF Bow
1 BG 6 LF Handgunners

I IC + 2 TC's

Everything is Drilled except for the Feudal MAA so reasonably maneuverable (for a Medieval Army anyway!).

Cheers,

Greg
