Andalusian History and Warfare - Books?

Hi folks,

I'm excited about the latest expansion, not least because I've just got back from a short trip around Andalusia and was delighted to find that the wars in this region during the period of Muslim expansion and consolidation will be covered.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend good background reading about Al Andalus, whether general history or specifically military history? I've had a quick look on Amazon but there doesn't seem to be as much available as I would have expected.

Any tips greatly appreciated! :)

Look at Roger Collins "Arab Conquest Spain 710-797 (A History of Spain)" and other stuff he did around 20 years ago.

Thanks Pete. I've added your recommendation to my wish list. In the meantime I've bought these two books -

i) In God's Path: The Arab Conquests and the Creation of an Islamic Empire by Robert Hoyland

ii) The Story of Moors in Spain by Stanley Lane-Poole (this one because it's virtually free on Kindle!)

Cheers.

Let us know what you think of the books after you've read them. The wars in Iberia in this period are a bit of a blank spot in my knowledge that I'd like to fill.
