JD & Ian,
We have a large collection of Napoleonics and a dedicated 6+ player group that includes several of us hard core tournament types....
Interested in seeing what you are attempting to do with these....
I signed up as a Beta tester and signed the agreement...

I'm in as well, we have quite a base of Napoleonic players around (Societé de La Grande Armée sounds fairly Napoleonic methinks). I'll try to get one or two of the major players involved as well. My knowledge is mostly on 1806 Prussians. Of course, it would be easy for me to look into Dutch (Batavian) sources too. Looking forward to help out, as FoG gets better every match.

Certainly looking forward to these. Have been hunting a good set of Napoleonic Rules for years. Not surprisingly my application for beta testing already in as I enjoyed the similar testing for FOG Ancients.

Beta testing is full already?! Consider this an official complaint from the Helsinki Wargaming and Archaeological Committee! Okay, we're not that influential, having only one member ...
Well, looking forward to seeing what you boys come up with, and drop me a line if you're ever back in the frozen north.
Cheers,
Christopher

Great to hear progress is being made on a set of Napoleonic rules that has potential for wide acceptance. Been studying and playing Napoleonics for 25 years and would be honoured to participate in development of the rules.
Cheers

The beta test has only just opened so it's not full yet
If you are able to log in to the forum you should be able to use the same username/password to access the beta test application. Can you double check you've not made a mistake as they use the same data so its not really possible for one to work and the other not.

I just found out about the Beta test for the Naps - and got a "Beta test Sign Up Ended" message.
Am involved in a group, some o fwhom have 35+ years experience in Napoleonics (Charles grant, Bruce Quarrie, New Hop Design, Empire III, IV and V, Valmy to Waterloo & others). Reckon we could gice it a whirl.

Well, it worked this time around! I think I may have been confused by the note that playtesting was closed for "Commander - Napoleon at War".
Cheers,
Christopher

I think you misread that, it states that the beta testing for "Commander - Napoleon at War" has ended, that's refering to the computer game, not the FoG rules. (Although it might be a good idea to change that line, to avoid more confusion.)

Signed up as a Betatester
we are about to test napoleonic ftf rules here in Frankfurt/Germany this year anyway for our longrange project "fight all 1814 battles".
so far tested a selection of rulessets, but hapy to add our experiance (15 Years) in napoleonic wargaming (Competition, friendly and Scenario) starting
from Newbury fastplay over several other rulessets to a fog napoleonic clone.
Napoleonic realy needs a benchmark rulesset.
As I am about to rebase my figures (prussians, french, Russians, Austrians, Spaniards, Hanoverians, Poles, late Empire mostly) to the 4 cm Standard I need Information on Basing fast. My plan is to put all Infantry on 4cm x 2 cm, all Horse (including mounted foot) and Artillery on 4 cm x 4 cm and all train on 4 cm x 8 cm, thus avoiding almost any geometrical oddities. I will start rebasing on 7th of February 09

I would offer to be a beta tester

A little differnet from the others ( I have registered though ) I am returning to the hobby after a 10 year absence and I am just starting my collection of 28mm napoleonics.
I am reading a lot of rule sets and would provide a differing perspective from others.
I do have an extensive libarary of Napoleonic literature. I am have belief that napoleonic games should feel like napoleonics and be fun.

While I can do gaming for both Naps and Renaissance, my strength may be helping with rules organization and clarity (I've got lots of experience with editing magazines, rules and papers).

Just signed up. I've been searching for the right set of Napoleonic rules so hopefully these will be the one for me.

Hi there,
I think I successfully got the computer to apply to play-test last night.
I hope these rules do well, I have masses of troops with muskets that gave been gathering dust for years, for want of a good set of rules that attracts players.
As I posted someplace else, I hope the rules use a larger number of smaller 'units'. As others note, it's the uniforms and diversity of them that help make the period. Well that and higher level command.
I reckon units of two (maybe 2-4) stands, perhaps with foot depicted two deep is what you should aim for. Single-stand units would be better still, but I'm not how many people agree with that.
Yours in much anticipation
David Brown
