spanish scutarii have between 46 to 51% chances to win impact combat against regular pikes in open terrain
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ ... E2CAC8FD0/
while roman hastati principes have about 20-30% if i remember correctly
how is that possible
hastati /principes are above average , scutarii are average. Yet scutarii have 20-30 more % to win. 20-30% is a big difference

Combat on the edge of rough terrain does not count as in Open Terrain - see manual section 17.4.
Although the pikes are not Disordered by the rough terrain if the Spanish charge, the
combat does not count as in Open Terrain, and they therefore do not get their 4th rank POA, which only counts if the
combat is in open terrain.
The logic is that all troops are assumed to countercharge enemy if appropriate to the opposing types, as in this case. In real life, rough terrain does not have hard straight edges, and the edge of rough terrain is not a suitable place for pikes to be counter-charging scutarii.
The pikes need to stay further away from the rough terrain.
