Hello there everyone,
Could anyone tell me where I could get hold of a set of the measuring sticks/rods that are used by FoG tournament players? - I think they are made of brass & alluminium.

The ones I've seen are 1" threaded sections - alternate brass & alluminium - I think about 8" long - but you can unscrew sections to give various distances.A guy was using one at our club last weekend. I did ask him were he got them from, but he couldn't remember the web site unfortunately. He did say they cost about ten pounds though.Good price!
Just wondering if anyone else has seen these particular ones - they seem more specific to FoG.(like the ones in the FoG rule book explanation pictures)

There are 4 types that I know of. The precision wargaming set, pushed by BHGS a couple of years ago, like the ones Bob mentions. There are some less flash looking aluminium solid pieces pre-cut to 2/3/4/5/6 MU and options to join some to make 10 MU etc. The threaded ones you mention. Some of these also come in multiple lengths up to 6 MU. There was also, but don't quote me on this, I think, Dave Allen, only famous in wargaming cirles, not the fingerless smoking Irishman, making some on the FoG yahoo mailing list from laser cut plastic. All available in imperial or metric. The only contact I have is the same and thats ian.carbutt@virgin.net or 1950's stylee 0149885966 precision wargaming. This could be a few years old.

But I think if you have the time go to a show and look at the stuff and buy exactly what you want.

You should be able to pick those up at a home improvement store. They are called Screw Post Extensions.

Here are some online:

100 extensions are about $28.36 on that site, so they should be relatively cheap in Home Depot or something similar.

White aluminum and black aluminum I bet would look great.

That's a great idea! I will definitely check it out at the local Lowe's and Home Depot. The question is how precise they are. If they're not exactly 1" then they won't do...

Oh, and I'd avoid the un-anodized aluminum. Go with the anodized ones that won't rub off on your fingers, especially if you're a smoker. There's just too much suspicion of some odd link between aluminum and Alzheimer's.
