How do I transport Allied Air Units by Sea - for instance from Britain to Iraq? Land units have a menu option to transport them. Air Units do not so far as I can see

If it's next to a port then you should see the transport option for air units.

Air units must be adjacent to a port to be transported just as land units. There are airfields you can use to fly bombers across the Atlantic. At some stages the Allies get access to airfields on Greenland, Iceland and the Azores. Those make it possible to fly across without the risky sea transport.
There are airbases on Newfoundland and northern Canada as well which will help linking up via Greenland and Iceland.
Azores is helpful to get air units to the Mediterranean after you have landed in Vichy France territory in Northern Africa (Operation Torch).
It's helpful to focus on techs to increase the air ranges to be able to fly air units across earlier.
