I am setting up a new tournament for 2019.

Players will be in groups of 4. In each round each player will play a pair of matched battles against the other 3 players. So each must be prepared to play 6 games per round. The two players with the highest score will progress to the next round.


I will chose the pairs of armies which fight. In ost rounds all the battles will be from a set period, for example the 30 years war.


It is very unlikely that we will get exactly 16, 32 or 64 players, so some sections may require an additional player. I will choose which from a group of volunteers fills the space. Normally first preference will go to people eliminated in the previous round but who did well.


For some people 6 games seems a lot to play, but as we are starting earlier than last year there is not a huge amount of time pressure, but players are still expected to play a move fairly regularly.

So Gentlemen please let me know if you are interested in participating.

I'm new to the game but I'd be interested in this. How quickly do you need games to be played? How many turns do you guys normally get though per day for instance?

Hello Dave,

welcome to Pike and Shot. Joining the tournament is a good way of getting lots of games, in different periods, against lots of different players you probably wouldn't normally play.
Don't worry about being a beginner, we were all beginners once, and the guys on here are friendly.

Because people are from lots of different time zones, and some don't play every day as they have other things going on, the average number of turns (each player having done a move) is probably 3 per week. But some times things work so you can get through 2 or 3 moves in a day.

So anyone who is thinking of joining in please let me know. Can you also let people you are playing know as well, the more people we have playing the more variety of battles we all get to fight.

I dont know if you have PM'd any one but kiwiwarlord, Gdod , W_Michael all come to mind from recent tournements etc. Trafffic is a little light on these forums so they might not be aware...

Maybe some announcement on Steam is possible?

I have read about point calculations from 2018 year and I suggest small change.
Problem is with result with similar difference. For example: 60:35 and 40:15 (8:3, 8:1). I think that secend one is greater victory but it is visible only in looser points. So maybe calculate winner points as 12-looserPoints (9:3, 11:1).

I have 14 who have said they want to take part;

Tomoegozen, awesum4, Pantherboy, Snugglebunnies, Waterhead1985, The GrayMouser, Doyley50, gribol, Oedenathus, SMJohnson,

fikabo, GDod, Dobri-i and Tralum.

If we can get one more to sign up we can have 5 groups of 3, with 2 from each going through to the second round. So please ask your opponents if they want to be the final player.


We will use fikabo's suggested scoring system with the loser getting 1 point per 10% of the winner's army destroyed, the winner gets 12 minus the losers score.

Hopefully I can pots the groups and the first round battles tomorrow,
