What advantages do heavy chariots have that only have missile weapons (for example Achaemenid Chariots)?

Thanks

I should have said when compared to light chariots - I'm new to the game but would have assumed that there's only a point in having heavy troops if they engaged in charges and other forms of hand to hand.

If their preferred mode of fighting was missile weapons would not manouverability be at a premium?

Thanks

Ah, I see.

In which case the answer is that they are better in close combat having an Impact and Melee PoA that Light Chariots do not get.

On the other hand they cannot evade like Light Chariots so cannot be "heavy skirmishers".

So they can indulge in close combat even if they do not have a specified close combat weapon?

Everyone can indulge, its just a Combat Capability makes you better at it. Mob can do it they're just not very good. They have the weapons, just not one that is worth mentioning for a seperate rule or POA.

Never understood why a Mob with heavy wooden cudgels are so ineffective compared to a wife with a rolling pin.

Another useful difference is that the HCh, being shock troops, can easily charge even when disrupted; non-shock BGs must pass a CMT, and might not go in when they are needed. Of course, the converse is that the HCh might charge when they are desired to stay . . . .

You pays you money, you takes your chances.

Superior heavy chariots with Bow are pretty nifty in general I think.

The Bow lets them shoot. The heavy gives them close combat. As stated they can't evade, but rarely do they want to.
