I want to get the C47 aircraft mdt file to start the process to retexturing that a/c to a Nakajima L2D 'Tabby" so it shows as such in the editor.

What are the steps to do that? Is there a utilty similar to UnityAssetsExplorer that takes out an object file?
From my search it appears in the forum I need to convert and an mdt file to mdb.

What you need are the MDT files. You can use the script to create them.

Guide: Adding new 3D units

And basically yes, you have to extract them from the Unity files and then export them using the script from a 3D software.

Me thinks it's too complicated. If you find an easier/faster/better way, please share.

PS: You may want to take a look at the "Battle of Britain" mod; you have some plane models there, and maybe you can re-use some of them for your needs (with some imagination  )

I'm weird-I like playing singleplayer and modding games. If I can't mod or edit it I lose interest. That's why I like playing around with ARMA. I was the first one to increase flavor objects in a Battlefront game (Shockforce and Normandy and Fortress Italy.)
All I want is to get the C47 for now to get a Japanese skin to show on the model. But I don't want someone to e:mail me the file. Just the steps and tools to get the file. In a way it's like a crossword puzzle
I have looked at the Battle of Britain files. And I have seen other forum posts showing what talented people have done. Clearly the files can get extracted/converted for use.

And yes if I can do it-I will post HOW TO do it.

Also this might help, an old discussion about "how to" with 3D software:
