How about a Gladiatorial combat game? There have been many over the years on different platforms, almost all of them duds. Mixed in with the arena aspect of this(and a system that would advance your gladiators skill...if he survived) a Ludus system could be incorporated, giving this game a 'campaign' aspect as you ran the school and traipsed your fighters all over the empire. I think there is great potential in this idea, Slitherine?

The best gladiator game I played was on PS2- Colosseum- Road to freedom. Loved that game!!
