MMM - Matrix Mod Matrix

One of the strengths of Field of Glory II is the mods available for it. One mod might work very well with the base game, but what I would like to see is the compatibility of a mod with other mods.

To see what I mean, it might be simplest to just install every single mod, then select whatever you want to use when you fire up the game. Unfortunately, some mods might not work well with others, though they may be fine if installed alone.

There ought to be some sort of interactive webpage with a matrix of all the mods. Selecting a mod in the matrix would make others turn red, yellow or green depending on how badly or well the game works if those other mods are also installed.

Does something like that exist already? Perhaps Matrix could maintain an official matrix page and then users could provide feedback on how well the mods work.

What do you think?

Generally if two mods include or modify the same file they won't be compatible without some manual merging work. Some popular combinations are occasionally uploaded by other users and you can ask around the modding section. A third party tool like Generic Mod Enabler (jsgme) might help you manage installations and figure out compatibility issues yourself.

Thanks, MPV7. Another idea might be to release a Mods also as a pack, which would be a collection of mods know to work together.

I don't think that idea is really necessary for FOG2 mods.

FOG2 mods are entirely seperate from the base game, and each other. You can have two or more installed at the same time, but you cannot run more than one at the same time.

The only exception to this are Global Mods, at the moment there is only one publically available Global Mod, the "Rise of AI", and I am not 100% sure if that has been updated to work with the current version of the game. Some of the features of Rise of AI have now been incorporated into the base game, so I do not know if anyone still uses it.

You can activate a Global Mod and then play another of the currently available mods. I suppose it is possible that a future mod may conflict with the Rise of AI mod, if they use the same files, but the currently available mods (Silk Road and TT) do not.

There is absolutely no problem in having the Silk Road Mod and the TT Mod installed at the same time, they cannot conflict with each other. The same would apply to any collection of FOG2 mods, campaigns or scenarios. But, if you were thinking of playing the Silk Road mod and the TT mod together, I am afraid that just would not work without jomni or myself doing an awful lot of work to combine the two seperate mods into one folder.
