What are the rules for shooting overhead?

I can't find specific mention of this in the rulebook. It says units cannot fire overhead, but I notice that certain height differences allow it, which I mostly notice with archers. How does that work exactly?

Overhead shooting by bows from higher ground was added in update 1.0.2.
They can shoot over units that are at a lower height level than them.
This currently only applies to bows, crossbows and longbows. Arguably it should also apply to slings. Javelins only have a 1 square range so could not shoot overhead anyway.
Artillery can shoot over any units.

Is there a reason why it doesn't apply to slings?

Mainly because of their flat trajectory, and because we had never read of it being done, but in fact there is at least one piece of evidence of slings shooting over other troops from a hill, so I guess that is one we need to change.

Well as I say, we are adding it into the next update.

Slings shot overhead most often in sieges

So why not shoot from a lower height to a higher height over other units?

I guess I would need to see some evidence. (Depictions of Assyrian slingers in sieges are not shooting over other units as far as I can recall)
