Camera Pitch

Any chance that some kind of in game camera tilt could be implemented in the future? I am thinking along the lines of pressing the middle mouse button and adjusting the tilt like in Total War. There's times when I want to see
the battlefield at a certain angle at a certain zoom level and I just can't view things the way I'd like. I had the same problem in P&S. Adjusting the MAPVIEW text doesn't cut it as the tilt is always fixed. It's not that big of a deal but would be a nice quality of life feature.

The tilt isn't fixed. Hold down the right mouse button and you can alter the tilt.

Nice. But is there a way to edit it to get a wider range of tilt? It still has a pretty narrow threshold before it stops.

That is because weird things happen with the shadows and sky at extreme tilts. You can fiddle with /Data/MapView.txt if you want, but remember to keep a backup of the default version.

Yep. I already backed it up a while ago. I already know what Pitch does so would it be Pitch Limit I screw with? That's the only one I am not sure what it does.

Yes. I don't recall exactly how it works so you may need to use a bit of trial and error .

Haha! Success! I set the Pitch Limit to 75 (the higher the number the more freedom you have) and it gave me exactly what I wanted. Well, actually, I could scale it back some (it was pretty over-the-top) but the test told me what I needed to know. I see what you are saying about the sky (all black) but the game doesn't use a skybox as far as I can tell, so I can live with it. The angles I was getting were excellent. Everything I needed. I am gonna apply the same settings to P&S and SJ!

Many, many, many thanks!
