Hi There
Just wanted to know what you thought of using Cav Supperior undrilled Lancer/sword in BG of 6 instead of 4 any thoughts?

I am very much in favor of lancers in 6s, where they are your main strike troops. The larger size makes them significantly more durable. If their primary purpose is rear support, reserve, etc., then perhaps not.

Depends--if the lancers are armored, six bases works, deploying in two ranks, four bases if protected, deploying in a single rank against missile fire. Also, how many BGs are you looking at? If you have several, smaller BGs work in tandem, if you only have one or two, bigger may be better. My two cents at any rate.

Cheers,

I like a front line of six-base BGs spaced carefully to allow for expansions where needed, with 4 bases front rank, two bases rear. Behind them, strategically placed columns of four-base BGs to provide rear support and cover flanks/gaps.

i'v played ostrogoth many time with armored and protected cavalry.

armored are 4 bases coz they are strong enough

otherwise i used 2 BG of protected in 6 and 4 BG in 4
The BG in 6 bases where made to confront catafracti or armored cav which they always won to the surprise of my opponent. Having 50 % more bases matches the poa malus for armor in mélée.

but undrilled BG of 6 bases are heavy and slow to move. don't use too many of them

6's for protected or unprotected lancers, 4's for most other cavalry types

or so it says here
