Given the size of the Manuals for the Gary Grigsby series of WW2 games, is it possible to upgrade an on-line purchase, or even a STEAM purchase, to get the hard copy manual or even to upgrade to a Boxed Edition AFTER you have purchased the digital only version. I seem to remember this was possible in the distant past.

Yes, it's possible to upgrade to a boxed edition.
Please note that if you've purchased the game from Steam you won't be able to use the disc to install the game. You've always to install via Steam client.
