Federations.

There has been discussions on another forum about changes to what happens to your units when a Federation you're in is canceled by the AI partner. In my opinion the next update with Federation changes can't arrive fast enough. I've had mutiple games with a lot of time in them where the Federation is suddenly canceled and I lose units. When playing against Rome it's game over and start again. I have learned not to abuse the Federation partner. I almost never use them to build combat units and I build roads and do a few city upgrades in their territory.

Hello,
the change will follow this rule - once federation or confederation is cancelled, it reverts back to treaties with homeland movement and road usage. It can be cancelled later on as well but players will have at least one turn.
Btw. I am not sure I understand your point about not "abusing" your federation partner. If you dont build units from your partner's cities at all, the partner will eventually feel endangered because he doesnt have his own army, so it is not the best way to go.

Thank you for the quick response. I used to build quite a few Federation units and I got the canceled Federation. I thought that that was the problem so I quit doing it. Is it possible to build too many units causing a problem?
Thanks again.

The problem can really be that you built too many units from the partner's cities and they got killed. That is definitely not something the partner appreciate. On the other hand, keeping his own units in his own cities is recommended for sure. You should treat your partner how you would like to be treated yourself.
