New paired MP feature and Question on new fall back behavior

The paired option for a MP game is terrific. I liked it when the slitherine tournament adopted one map for both games and i like it much more that we can now do so on our own. It is awesome to observe how players look at the same conditions and make different choices and then we can see whos choice is best.

On the new fallback coding, Great that the community was heard and that a significant gameplay modification was made. I was surprise, but then again maybe I missed it, that there was no heads up that the beta testing was over and that the change was made. I would have liked to hear about the testing along the way but no biggy.

What I am most curious about is the insight learned from the testing... aside from the issues of so many breaks in the line that led to game results that appeared to be illogical, what relationships were observed to be different?

For instance, I imagine that the favored tactic of any medium army of lining up vs. heavies, and waiting for a flank opportunity after fallback(s), is significantly mitigated. Hence the power of expensive heavy and well trained units is increased as they now have more time to "safely" break a medium (or poor quality heavy) unit. Was this observed? what else was learned?

Thanks in advance.

The general consensus was that the new version was better and did not adversely impact legitimate tactics.

Surprisingly, less so than we expected.
