Wrong Religion of EU4's Timurids?

I can't be bothered to sign up for Paradox forums, but I was wondering if any Europa Universalis players here could explain why the Timurids were made Sunni in the game? I have read that they were Shiites, at least their 'state religion'. I have read Sunni elsewhere, however.
