Living in The Netherlands I wanted to spend my holidays near a WW1 battlefield and spent three days roaming the hills around Verdun in Northern France - essential visit to get a better understanding what is left of the landscape after reading about the effects of German artillery - left me stunned to see so much damage still visible after 100 years...

Thanks for sharing as I researched info online about this, and it is dumbfounding.

Brutal, brutal war...all war is brutal, but so much destruction in such a small space.

Mind boggling
