@rbodleyscott As the title said, but we can't let them dismount in the custom battle and quick battles(also in the campaign battles),but they're already dismount in the epic battle's battle of Taginae.Make them dismountbale in game will give players more tactical choices.

It would, but the history does not justify that choice in every battle. The Byzantines did not generally dismount their horse archers in battle. Even the archers at Taginae may not have been dismounted cavalry. Paul (the scenario designer) has represented them thus speculatively.

We try to stick to the history. Allowing every option to every army paradoxically reduces real choice, because it can end up with all armies being effectively the same, as they all have the same (infinite) set of options.

Even allowing actions that are recorded in one historical battle to be always available to that army in all battles can distort the realism of those battles, and misrepresent the army's usual way of fighting.

The restrictions imposed by following only recorded history, and not allowing options that were one-off stratagems to be used in all battles, actually make for more variety in the game, rather than less, as every army retains its distinct historical character.
