Almost every time that I offer a treaty I get turned down saying that I must build trust. How do I accomplish that?
Thanks for any info.

Hi stormbringer3,
the best way to build trust is to:
  • Have similar allies and also share the same enemies.
  • Trade
  • When particular offer comes from them, try to please them and accept.
  • Don't do any dishonorable military actions (like sieges)

Thanks for your answer. Most of my offers are to try and set up trade.
You give great support! That's one of the reasons I bought this game.

If you want to trade just to build more trust, try to choose those resources they are in lack and try "open request". They will tell you what they want.

I take it 'trust' and 'attitude' are not the same. I get the same 'need more trust' message even though the attitude of the other nation towards mine is 100%.

I think this is caused by two parameters. The short relation and the long relation.
Even when your (or their) attitude is 100% it might be to soon to take decisions for them.
Do not except major diplomatic moves in the first few turns.

(This is for example why a trade relation over many turns can pay out. You build turn by turn on the relationship).

But if they are refusing to make cities visible then you can't even trade with them.
