Hi There
I am about to down size to 15mm for my next army. What I was hoping was for peoples ideas as to what companies i could get to paint them for me and roughtly the cost of figures. Thought I'd use peoples experiences before spending money.

There are quite a few miniatures painting services. Painting style, quality and prices can vary widely. I do my own painting - for me, it's half the fun of miniatures wargaming - so I can't vouch for any service in particular. However, here is a sampling of folks who advertise that they paint 15mm ancient armies on commisssion:

Dragon Painting service (dps) has a high throughput and there is a sri lankan company you could try as well.

As far as cost if you budget around 1.50 USD per foot figure and 2.90 USD per mounted you shoudl be about right (not counting postage).

That price point has a HIGH variablity in quality and should be followed with caution. $3.00 USD for a foot if probably the other end of the scale and both often do not include the cost of the lead.

Still with the economic downturn there have been great deals to be had.

Your first place to look should be the bring and buy tables at the big shows and perhaps the Warboot sale in Manchester.

The Phil Greg link above is for painters in Sri Lanka. There are good and cheap - about 50p per figures for 15mm. BUT there are NOT good at following written instructions. If you give then a base and say paint me 20 of each they are fine. The quantity is good. The postage bumps up the price so it is not worth sending off penny packets.
