Dear Sir,

I am finding that when I try to upload my turn when playing over the internet I am having problems getting the turn to go. It has been an intermitent problems the last few days but has now proving impossible - any suggestions please?

Unless others are having similar issues then it is likely a local problem. Are you on a hardline or wifi? Is it possible that a firewall is interfering with the upload?

I’ve been having this issue to, my turn actually got disbanded due to too many attempts.

The MP server is still hosed.

BTW, forum is extremely slow from my end these days.

starting this week game will not save,over and over...up till now no problems.

Hi there,
I can download my turn, play my turn, but when I go to send off my turn, it says it has failed to do so.
I have changed nothing within the setting of my computer, nor is my internet playing up.
This is the second day this is happening.
Even trying to look at the slitherine forum here, I sometimes get an error message not letting me on, yet I can access other web pages.

I've had the same issue with two multi-player games: FOG2 and P&SC. It is also now taking a long time even to connect to the server to download the turn. I've been playing MP for years without ever seeing this problem, but it has happened in two of the four MP games that I have played since Thursday.

Same issue here for me and some friends that are playing Field of Glory 2 in Germany.
Often, it is not possible to reach the multiplayer lobby or you get stuck while uploading a multiplayer turn.
Also the forum is very slow and sometimes even an error with "bad gateway" shows up.

Same problem here. I can't get my turns to upload. It tries for a minute and then reports unable to connect to the server please try again which doesn't work. My units seem to be all back in their original positions after failing to upload but I am unable to move them plus no enemy units are visible. I am reluctant to keep trying to upload as it may cost me a battle if my units don't move so I need to crash the game through task manager. When doing this I see a message in task manager saying FOG is not responding. My P&S turns had the same problem but last night I could do one turn but seems to have uploaded a turn in another game without registering my moves and this morning I could do another turn without issue. For FOG I have only been able to send one turn over the past few days successfully.

Can't you guys make a global announcement regarding this issue and then another when it is resolved so people don't have to waste time on retrying turns?

UPDATE:

Now PBEM server is working as good as before.
Plus, forum surf speed is satisfying.

What should happen is that after a few failed attempts to upload the game will ask you whether you want to abandon the turn. You can then (when the server is working) restart the turn.

My units seem to be all back in their original positions after failing to upload but I am unable to move them plus no enemy units are visible.

This is normal. What the game actually saves to the server is the positions at the start of your turn, and the list of actions during the turn. The final position at the end of your turn is reconstructed by the replay when the other player takes his turn.

I am not in a position to make any official announcement, but the server does seem to be working normally at present.

I agree with pantherboy, can we have a big announcement somewhere obvious on the board index front page with details and updates o n the state of the server when major problems occur? This is just customer care 101, not happy with the lack of communication by slitherine.

Yup can’t even get to start a turn, is there a tech issue that’s not been announced! I couldn’t even get in to the website at all yesterday.

Website is still slow for me. Also still experiencing difficulties uploading turns. Are you guys still solving the problem or is it because I play through steam or from Japan if that makes a difference?

I'm having the same issue.

After several attempts I got the message that the server will mark the turn as retired.
Clicking on the Save current position button (without ending the turn) does nothing. All the terrain is greyed out.

The only option to proceed is to either resign from the battle, or use the task manager to close the app it seems.

EDIT: I managed to exit the game by abandoning the turn.

That didn't happen for me in my P&S game. In my game with TGM it was failing to upload and I needed to crash out. I decided to load my turn once more but without doing any moves and attempt to save which wouldn't upload but gave me the option to keep trying until it invited me to abandon the turn. I just wanted to check if I could save and send a turn later. I abandoned it and the next time I logged on the game was now moved to my enemy's turn without me having done my turn. So are you saying when I see my units in their original positions after failing to upload and the enemy have been removed from the map that in fact the game still remembers all the moves I had done and if I keep trying to send it will be with all the moves done? I have so many games in the heat of combat that I don't want to risk losing a turn like I have with TGM.


PS: the website is still really slow and screwy for me.

I am having the same issues as PB ( one of those game is between eachother)
Im in the US, he is Japan so its not a local issue , I am not on Steam if that helps.

Slitherine forums ( only) are incredibly slow and when I try to post I just as often get a time out error versus my post going thru. People are reporting similar MP game errors on Matrix forums as well with PBEM++ games specific to Matrix only.

still not working, can't send turns after completion. Can we get a response from Slitherine to let us know when they think this is going to be fixed? I'm assuming it's DoS attacks that are at the root of it, does slitherine have professional security sw installed (F5 or something similar) to prevent this in the future?
