A couple of puzzling questions about the map and unit card

I have what are probably a couple of dumb questions about the map during deployment/force selection and also about the unit card.

1. In the picture attached, what is the use of the horizontal bar across the map (outlined in red). It appears to be a second 'window' that can be scrolled to a different location to make deployment easier, but I can't figure out how to independently move the map of either part.

2. in the picture attached, in the unit card at the bottom (and seen in other places as well) what is the meaning of the number in parenthesis next to the unit name (outlined in yellow)?

Thanks.

Purely decorative.

It isn't.

it is the unit's ID number, which is referred in the Combat Log. (Which can be toggled on and off in the Setting menu, or using the fourth button down in the left-hand tools menu, or by hitting the C key).

Its both a hold over from the preceeding screen layouts ie. the bottom third is always treated separately, and it provides a fenced off area for buttons and unit info.
