Wolves from the Sea

Ugh, February seems SUCH a long time from now.

Am I the only one who's literally salivating about this one? I'm counting on February, but who knows... there could be delays...

I'm already searching out minis of all types for the various armies... I'm practically driving myself into a depression.

Plus the fact that I barely have three games under my belt ... I've got serious "Second Army" issues.

I am with you. Vikings are not really my thing, but am looking forward to seeing al-Andalus.

Funny, Vikings are one of the few armies that I'm not considering at all.

Post Roman Brits are probably my first choice, but I want the book. If I hate their composition, I'm not against almost any of those other choices.

Living as I do less than 20 miles from the sites of the Battle of Maldon and Ashingdon, all I can say it let the Vikings and Norsemen be delayed as much as possible.

Awaiting the Magyars with the same thoughts, Feb seems years, not months away.

Scrumpy, agreed on the Magyars! Very curious about them.

Timmy... it's not like I'm suggesting we all go there and LARP our armies (shiver). Heck, the Vikings are the last one of the list that I'd pick.

Post-Roman brits sounds good too. King Arthur and all that.

My buddy in the SCA does Viking, and another one does Moorish Spain, so I figure if I pick it up I might be able to get them both into it.

Gotta have someone for my Roman Legions to wipe out. :)

I would have thought King Aurthur would be some what similar to the Foederate Roman, with less bow armed mounted - maybe they even have a few Knights...

I'm another waiting for the sheild wall troops BTW. :)

I am trying to prepare an Al-Andalus army for DBA, but figure I might as well prepare for Feb and this release. Any chance I can get some hints on what to prepare (*crosses fingers*)?

9th-10th century, so Emirate.

What you have said (and anything else you might be able to add) is great, thanks!

Edit: I was told that I should have different armies that 'do' different things. Building my Principate Romans so I have a good 'quality infantry' army. Byzantine and/or crusader will be my 'knights/cataphracts' army. It seemed to me that al-Andalus would be either more of a run and gun, or a bit more of a horde with a few quality units. Not really sure what my play style is, so I will collect them and play with them all until I figure it out.

least awaited list

Wolves of the Sea and Legions triumphant are propbably the only two list books I wont be getting.

Far to many figs to paint of the same type in the wolves book and there is more colour and variety in LH/Cav outfits in the Byzantine and crusades period books.

I am however champing at the bit for a bit of biblical action. The Assyrian Beta list is great but I have no idea what the allies will consist of and I think the skythian or phillistine ally will add flavours to the main assyrian list that they otherwise lack.

Really? All the biblical armies seemed to be the same to me. The 'pre-history' (as in, pre greco-roman) military just doesnt interest me at all... just seems to be alot of the same things done in similar ways.

You may find the biblical lists enlightening then. There are several distinct styles of list, the armies are most definitley not all the same.

Expendablecinc... I know what you mean, Wolves from the Sea is going to be alot of shieldwalls and harrasing cavalry, but for some reason I love it and can't wait. Agreed on the variety of LH/Cav though...

I'm with Omar regarding the Biblical book. My impression (admittedly uninformed) is that it's going to be javelins, slingers, chariots... I don't know, just doesn't excite me.

Hammy if you say there's good stuff in it, I believe you though, I'll give it a glance. But my natural bias is towards the Dark Ages.

I suppose everyone as their preferences. Frankly, I didn't think I'd enjoy my Medieval French half as much as do right now!

In essence, I think we're enjoying a good game here!

But that list starts at 500BC and the lat assyrians are at around 650bc o I's expect a skythian army list for pre 500bc in the chariot book unless that is ditched. Its only from the Beta list that I am getting the expaectaiton that there will be one.

It is pretty much the same as the Skythian ally list in Immortal fire, except that the noble Cavalry are Protected rather than Armoured.
