Hello all
I am look to host a 10/15 mm tournament at the Gotta-Con gaming event in Victoria, BC in February 2009. I do not expect a huge number of players. It will mostly be locals from Vancouver Island and Vancouver. I have no experience in running a tournament and I have a few questions I hope you may be able to answer.
1) Points battles I assume are the way to go, what is a manageable point maximum to alow for reasonably fast play ?
2) Are there any on-line resources that might be able to help me ?
Thanks

Hey Machine, this is really great news. I think conventions would be a great way to further promote FOG in Canada. I am hoping to run a FOG game at FallCon in Calgary in the fall of 2009. I'll spread the word out here though of your event.

As far as points go, 650 and 800 are the two widely used point levels for 15mm. If you have a limited time span in which to run the event or a lot of new players (new either to FoG or to tournament play) I recommend 650. My experience running several events full of newbies is that during the first round there will be a lot of incomplete games, less in the second round, and few in the third round.
Some useful online resources can be found
here. Note the scoresheet. There is no specific need to use this scoring system, but it works well and is easy to use (after a bit of flailing).
Good luck with your event.
