The Disappearance Of Light Cavalry.

So I have been delving into later eras of this fantastic game, and decided to play some Le Roi Soleil battles. I've noticed that in Western European armies at least there is a dearth of light cavalry. Now, I was wondering why this is, as there are a multitude of valid uses for them(not the least, a kamikazi and glorious charge into the enemies artillery!).I am assuming that they were still in use in Eastern Europe because the Ottomans still used them and a counter was needed for this. So any thoughts on their disappearance?
Cheers
Alex

Not only Light cavalr, but also heavy cavalry, cuirassiers, gendarmes, demilances, all were replaced by a "medium" cavalry that assumed the roles of both, until in the mid 18th century the success of Austrian hussars made light cavalry again fashionable. Then in the early 19th century heavy lancers were again fashionable.
