When starting the game via Steam I receive the following error messages: "The program Order of Battle - WW2 app cannot be opened, because it is possibly damaged or incomplete" from OSX/Mac and "Failed to start proces for Order of Battle: World War II : OS Error 4294956469".

The last time I played was Sandstorm on 24 June on Mac OS 10.13.6 and everything went without problems for months. Then I moved my home and today wanted to play again and this simply happened. I deinstalled both the game and the Steam app already twice, but to no avail.

Was a patch or similar update released between 24 jun and today that I might be missing and is not automatically applied? Can I download it somewhere (for Apple Mac)?

the mac side is done elsewhere, so i don't have the knowledge to help, but do know where there is someone who can and will know,

as the issue is related with tech support you can contact support@slitherine.co.uk and then they will forward the messages, to those who deals with Mac related issues

Verify Integrity of Game Files

from what i understand, to repair a steam game on the mac is the same as the pc version, maybe an idea to try that first before trying support as well

I had the same problem this Morning and I did everything : deinstall OOD, reinstall - deinstall Steam Client, reinstall.

Indeed the fix mentioned on Steam works perfectly:

The error was in configuration file Info.plist inside OOB application package.

<key>CFBundleExecutable</key>
<string>Order of Battle - WW2</string>

I changed it to match Mac OS X executable:

<key>CFBundleExecutable</key>
<string>Order of Battle - WWII</string>

...and the game works again!

Please also note that the plist is inside the APP (an App is really just a folder), and you have to right click and select Show Package Contents.
