I have decided to run a tournament...its time we had one to spark some interest and to give us all some friendly competition against people we don't usually play.

It will be based on a different period for each round of the competition, first up 30 years war, then ECW....then whatever period we feel is most fun.


Each round players will be in pools of 3. These will be seeded for those players who played in previous tournaments and random for the others. If we have a pool that is short of a player or 2 I will choose someone to play in 2 pools. The top 2 players in each pool will advance to the next round.

If there aren't enough players to make up a final group of 3 I will adjust it by firstly eliminating a player who is in two pools from 1 of them. Otherwise I will bring back someone who has been eliminated in the previous round, but this can only happen once for any player.


Once we are down to 4 players they will play a final round against the other 3 players to determine final rankings.


In the first round you will play one opponent using 30 years war German Catholic against German Protestant, and simultaneously using Protestant against Catholic. The other player you will fight using Swedes against Imperialist (Lutzen) and Imperialist against Swedes.


The scoring will be kept simple; If you break your opponent you score 6 points, plus 1 point for every 10% more inflicted than recieved. If you lose or draw then you get 1 point for every 10% you inflict.


All battles will be large armies on a wide battlefield in agricultural terrain unless both agree to something else. Conditions must be the same for both battles against that opponent.


So please post on here or message me if you would like to take part. You will be expected to play your 4 games in each round within a reasonable time so we can keep things moving.

Am thrilled and overjoyed to hear that Andre has laid the foundations for mutual warfare between our merry band of renaissance warmongers. I'll be waiting in anticipation with a brandy and the sweet smell of cordite wafting from the computer terminal. [Hopefully, that is the smell of cordite?] I feel an ode coming on!

I'd be interested. When is the start date? I can join if it starts after 12 August - I will be on vacation and coincidentally that is the ending date of the FOGII league season
