Where am I?!?

(One thing I've noticed - no more sticky threads, it seems. Well, maybe the posting errors will now be gone for good.)

EDIT: I was wrong on the stickies. They are still "stuck" on top and they are tagged with exclamation points but they're not in a separate section anymore.

Let's see if I have this down correctly. By image, in order from top to bottom:
#1 - Important sticky with unread posts
#2 - Important sticky but I have read everything
#3 - Thread that I have read and posted in (star)
#4 - Hot topic that I have read and never posted in
#5 - Hot topic that I have read and posted in (star)
#6 - Thread with unread posts
#7 - Hot topic with unread posts

Sounds right to you?

Same here. I don't mind updates, but why change the look of things I've got used to. It appears less organized now. Why?

Also I need to add an extra line now if I want some space between text and screenshot. Sigh.

Well, we know that they needed to upgrade their system because of the posting errors that we kept getting. Although those might have been from beginning this transition and not finishing it until now. Anyway, we're still the same, aren't we, Gary?

I got it after you've quoted me here in this thread. A red "one" up in the right corner - I thought it to be a PM at first... Maybe you get it now, too, or you have to be online for that.

Yes, I see that now. It happens when you are quoted by somebody in his own post. I wonder what else will be a Notification? It's like a Subscription, I guess, but the difference being if anybody posts anything in a subscribed thread, you get notified. Here's it's like if somebody is speaking to you directly by quoting you, you get notified.

In the case at hand, the outlined setting pertains. We have some tweaking to do, apparently.

It looks like when the thread goes to two pages which I think is maybe 20 replies? We're about to go "hot" ourselves here!

I know my way around computers, but what the heck is a "channel" or "subscription", what are hashtags for, I always use it as a quasi-synonym for "number" and why the hell are just "like" buttons everywhere (I miss the "bullsh*t" buttons)?

You're a little far afield in those areas. I can't help you there because me and some guy in Patagonia are the last two human beings on the planet without Facebook and Twitter accounts. For this forum, though, I can point you to the top of the page where "FAQ" appears. Plus, if you click your user name and then User Control Panel, you can get the hang of things that way, too.

I would imagine "Unread posts" would be quite useful. One good thing about a new forum is that it makes you get out of your rut and look around a bit.

Here's a drawback for Quick Links, however; it refers to every forum in the Slitherine Board Index. Not useful after all in this regard unless your gaming tastes are rather eclectic.

Yeah, thanks. I think that's about the first time I've opened the "preferences" tab.
Okay, now everything's deactivated....just the way I like it...

But the "bookmark" feature seems useful. You know how to set those? Oh I see.... the wrench...okay, granted, that's a good update. But wait... you'll have to access them through five thousand clicks from the user control panel...


There has to be an easier way, right? And I'm just not seeing it...
