It gives a good summary of the game but does not really delve much in to what the reviewer liked and disliked.

This might not be the first one, I already read a German review at www.gamershall.de:

http://www.gamershall.de/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=42

Short summary:
CNaW had the potential to be a good game, but the lack of a decent AI and some problems with PBEM (no replay, files saved in the user folder instead of the game folder) prevented this.

That's a wierd 'problem'. Saving files to the user folder is a requirement to allow for correct operation on both XP and Vista for users without admin rights. Plus it means that different users on the same computer aren't overwriting each other's files. One would hope a reviewer would have that kind of knowledge.

Cheers

I agree, the user folder thing was more about that we were forced to do it to be sure the game could be run without being administrator, since game need to be able to save and you can always save files to your user folder.

Please do not kill the messenger. :D

However, I it was unusual for me too to look for the files in the user folder. Why didn't you use the "My Documents" folder within the user folder instead? It's much easier to access it, me thinks.

On my Vista machine it is called "Documents", but is that the same on any machine or do some OS call it "My Documents" ?

I do not know as I use a German windows version. There it is called "Eigene Dateien". However, I am pretty sure that there is a generic path variable pointing on the document folder that is the same on any windows OS, e.g. like the variable %ProgramFiles% which points on "C:\Program Files" on English OS and "C:\Programme" on German OS.

~edit~
Please see this picture: http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/ ... window.gif

I mean the "My Documents" folder right below "Desktop". Although this folder is shown as being at the top level and therefore accessible pretty easy, it is "physically" within the user folder.

Other games use this folder too, for instance Silent Hunter 3.

There's now also a review over at Cyber Strategie magazine

They really liked the game but have commented on the AI. We're hoping the patch will sort all those problems out and really bring the game to life.
