US Corps Scenarios

I remade two scenarios from the Panzer Corps US Corps Grand Campaign for play on OOB.
The first is the landing of Operation Torch and the second the first skirmish with German troops in Tunisia.
I hope you enjoy the scenarios and report any bugs/suggestions in this thread.
Casablanca 1.2:

Djebel Abiod 1.1:

Note: Will turn these and later US Grand Campaign scenarios into a actual campaign soonish.

"Casablanca"
First of all, thanks for this. Nice small map, fast and hard. I liked it.
- all events are missing pics
- the Casablanca defenses are okay, the northern part is rather weak
- the lonely AT gun near the bridge at Maaziz is kinda lost. Should have at least a supporting inf/eng. unit
- I think the enemy BB and one strat bomber in the lower right corner are missing AI team orders
my suggestions:
- too much RP for the player (but you said it's gonna be a campaign...so I don't know how you planned this in the future)
- too easy overall. I'd suggest to cut the player's forces, esp. the naval part (at least one CA and two DD) with at least one less strat bomber and dogfighter. Give the eastern (inland) towns garrison units (static) and rather add some turns
- and it's nothing important really, but it's strange to see the enemy with CORE forces...

"Djebel Abiod"
You should recheck the triggers on this one: the prim. obj. ain't triggering and the sec. obj. must be screwed also (and it's checked as "failed" from the beginning). I checked with #orbital and there's no enemy left on the map
suggestions:
- add some pics to the events
- add at least one more inf. unit in the northern column; the southern one, on the other hand, is way too powerful
- at some point I'd get undersupplied in the north, you should add a few supply points to the towns
- the spawn of many German reinforcements that near to my units is not the very best solution IMO. The map looks empty and the suprise attack's really quite strong if unprepared for it
- but I liked the overall balance with the turn limit

- Screenshot 553.jpg (580.34 KiB) Viewed 6473 times
Thanks.

Thanks for testing and giving feedback!
-Will look for event pictures tomorrow, i just wanted to get this out here for now.
-Okay, have had many testruns with the inland forces being too much so nice its okay now.
-Ill probably add a infantry unit then.
-BB had wrong turn activation (3 instead of 2), it was still repairing historically so it gets a delay. Bomber indeed got assigned to wrong ai team.
-I copied it directly from Panzer Corps and will have to resize all income for OOB then to make it fair.
-Will cut one destroyer atleast and a non-core p47 fighter at start. Also will remove the b17 at craw field.
For inland garrisons ill look into it but may just change the secondary objective to destroy all units instead as was in the original scenario and see how that plays.
-Yeah, will probably change that unless its really needed in a scenario.

Will look into the triggers and fix it for the next version.
-Same thing as Casablanca
-Will change around a infantry unit from south to north.
- Will add more supply to northern road.
-Will probably change to already deployed german forces.
-Alright
Thanks again for testing and will go and change around things tomorrow.

Just keep 'em coming. I really like those smallish scens - they can be played anytime I need a small break. Fast AI execution and no lag.

Yeah, the campaign i am taking these scenarios from has a lot of these small 10-20 turn scenarios.
So i will soon start to mix the scenarios into a campaign and add more as time goes.

Hi nice scenaries ( Ihave only tryed the rev. casablanca)
I did not get the B17 (I know you have removed it) but the text still tell you shall get it
Regarding US-forces:
I suggest you shall replace/ad some airforce units as you have a us-carrier which should have: 1 Wildcat, 1 Dauntless and 1 Avenger (T).
Remove the Swordfish (british).
Replace the Curtis with Lightning (long range)
Let the 2 Thunderbolt and B25 be reeinforcement when you take Craw Field.
Replace the 2 US rangers (marines) with 2 paracute and perhaps ad an engineer unit to the northern invading force.
Otherwize a good scenarie and cant wait to try your campaign, when you have finished it

Hi again Fabio
You have been very fast to update Casablanca - thx for that
I'm glad you had tryed to incooperate my suggestions
But perhaps I was not clear in, what I meant with my suggestions
First of all remove the english Swordfish and replace it with the US Gruman TBF Avenger (T) (carrier plane) - it is an american operation
Replace one of the Wildcats with the P38 Lightning (Longrange fighter) ad a US Divebomber - SBD3 Dauntless (Carrier plane).
I liked you small airforce in the North (Marauder and Thunderbolt) and the reinforce from Gibralter make more sense now (B25 and escort Thunderbolt).
So the Southern (Carrier) should have 1 Wildcat, 1 SBD3 Dauntless Divebomber, 1 TBF Avenger (T) torpedo and 1 P38 Lightning Longrange Fighter and The Northen as above
The ground forces (if I may suggest) first of all the Paratroopers should be Airborne in a C47 not inside a landingcraft
The 2 now missing landingcraft should be filled with an engineer (both north and south).
The Reinforcement from further South (turn 3 I think it is) I would replace one Stuart with the M10 Wolverine
Then the player will have a good feeling what the different units is capable off later on in your campaign and have a better chance to make inprovement of the coreforce and have been introduced both in airlanding and amfibielanding at the very first start including airstrikes, escorts, dogfights etc.
So you have make a very promissing introduction to you campaign with this first scenario

No problem.
First of all remove the english Swordfish and replace it with the US Gruman TBF Avenger (T) (carrier plane) - it is an american operation
Will replace swordfish with sbd3 dive bomber to compensate for both air requests as no torpedo planes were apparently used.
Replace one of the Wildcats with the P38 Lightning (Longrange fighter) ad a US Divebomber - SBD3 Dauntless (Carrier plane).
Wildcats will stay as no p38’s were used while a lot of wildcats were launched from the USS Ranger.
Thanks, i made it more realistic, yes.
I will have it be 1 Wildcat, 1 SBD3 and north as otherwise the airforce will be a complete stomp for the french.
The ground forces (if I may suggest) first of all the Paratroopers should be Airborne in a C47 not inside a landingcraft
The 2 now missing landingcraft should be filled with an engineer (both north and south).
Rangers wouldn’t often paradrop instead the airborne did.
I made the rangers para’s becuz they
So rangers will stay and i don’t think engineers are needed then.
(Oran scenario will have a paradrop tho

)
The Reinforcement from further South (turn 3 I think it is) I would replace one Stuart with the M10 Wolverine
Hmm, no wolverines were landed at this point yet and the force is strong enough the way it is.
Then the player will have a good feeling what the different units is capable off later on in your campaign and have a better chance to make inprovement of the coreforce and have been introduced both in airlanding and amfibielanding at the very first start including airstrikes, escorts, dogfights etc.
Yes, but some things have to wait, the americans didn’t really do all that in operation torch sadly and it can come in later scenarios. But if you play the 2nd scenario (if you haven’t already), you will see a completely different kind of scenario.
So you have make a very promissing introduction to you campaign with this first scenario

Thanks, i have right now finished 2 more scenarios for the campaign and have finally mastered the art of campaigns through failure after failure.

Hi Fabio,
I am interesting to make Tunis (USCorps1) or/and Aachen (USCorps3), two scenario with urban warfare.
If you are interested or if you have already begun the one or the other one, say it.

I have not come this far yet (currently at spring wind and morning air) so you are free to make both of the scenarios.
Tunis would be the one i want more tho, as it is needed sooner. Will probably start on kasserine tomorrow so i am making good ground.

OK thank you, I have no work next week. I shall thus begin with Tunis.

Hi Fabio,
Quick test
Djebel Abiod :
- no scenario description (location, date, scenario description : US forces encounter the Germans for the first time in North Africa)
- no
Set Unit Skin
Easy to do. If you have Sandstorm, you can look on the scenarios (otherwise I can explain you).
Example Djebel Abiod :

- DjebelAbiod.png (571.67 KiB) Viewed 6148 times
PS : German could also have Camouflage.

Sorry for late answer but was very busy last week.
-I am going to start adding descriptions, pictures, outcome text from today on as i have just finished bizerte map+units and have done so with all scenarios before that.
-Haven’t thought about camo, etc. But i will look into it once the campaign is finished.

Casablanca suggestions :
- map :desert town and village, climate arid :

- Casablanca.jpg (247.27 KiB) Viewed 5913 times
- USA : purchase and deploy units (campaign : converts the cost of the present units). Deploy not too much near coast (Costal Guns).
- Costal Guns : strength = 10 ? Costal Guns need a Radar Station to be effective. Place a Radar Station near or on the Casablanca Airfield ?
- a few Naval Mines ?
