superior pike are they worth it /how to combat the legionary

how good are superior pike against elite armoured legionarys ? are they equal or worse are they worth the points to have infantry with no fear in hand to hand or is it just better to buy the average pikemen ?

The key thing with pikes is:
1. stay steady to deny swordsmen POA
2. maintain four ranks so as not to lose POAs
In the first case you need to pass cohesion tests so generals in contact, rear support and better morale are good things therefore superior pikes are indeed worth it. In the second case it's best to have 10 base BGs so you can deploy 5 deep against Romans and can absorb two losses before you lose POAs.

superior pike are great against legionaires on impact its evens if they don't disrupt you you get plus one in melee.
