Breaking off in the JAP

I think I may have been misreading this...
Page 106, Breaking off, second paragraph, bullet points three scenarios where units cannot break off and then goes on to say that mounted troops must break off against 50%+ formed foot
Does this mean that every type of unit not proscribed by the three bullet points can break off? So, for example, disordered foot can break off from any mounted - I think it's a tad different in FOGR

Breaking off is by mounted troops only. Foot can never break off from anybody.

Thanks Dave
That's what we were doing based on the general comment at the start of the 'Breaking off' section on page 106, but, in all fairness, that isn't explicitly covered in the actual rules, and someone used to FOGR may put a different interpretation on it
But now we've been guided we'll adhere to the mounted only scenario

Just to be clear (and you can point this out if anybody disagrees). Page 106 deals with breaking off.
"The following battle groups cannot break off:
- Elephants
- Any battle group with bases facing inmore than one direction
- Any battle group which pursued into contact with fresh enemy but has not yet fought any combat with them
Otherwise
mounted troops break off if at least half their close combat opponents are STEADY foot"
Another point to note is that if a battle group of foot pursues into mounted in the impact or close combat phase, the mounted battle group will break off in the JAP despite there having been no impact or melee fought. Odd, but true...
