The company has recently posted a great thread about the new unit types in Sandstorm, and I found it very helpful to understand the use of those unit types.
So I wondered if there was any other "documentation" or sort of "guides/tutorials" where the different unit types was explained in the same way - with what the units are good at, and what they are bad at.
I have already read the official handbook/tutorial/guide, so there is no need to direct me there. It was more in the same way that thread was shown, that really compelled to me, or in some sort of Wiki-format?

Thanks, it is a good page, that one... I can see a lot of good info there, and I might use it a bit more. I just have to read and compare a lot, and pay attention of all the details - but I guess that is just a part of this great game The only thing I could miss on that page is pictures of the units, so I better can visualize them. I have difficulties remembering the name of the units, from the different factions.

I completely agree that unit pictures would be great but these pictures are not available in the game data files so I couldn't use them. There is no unit picture within the game as these are always on demand rendered 3d models. If someone has time to take screenshots of all units within the game and format them into nice unit pictures I will be happy to include them in the Unit Navigator Tool. It's a lot of manual work, though. I'm sure it's possible to write an exporter within the game engine to do that, but you would need access to game source code which we don't have. I'm also open to other suggestions how to add the unit pictures in the UNT if you have any.

If you can extract just the unit picture of each unit and save it into a separate file with the ID of the unit, that would be really useful. I could then include these images in the UNT. Here is an example of what I'm looking for:



The file name would look like this:

unit_71.png

Where 71 is the Unit ID.

Every picture needs to have same dimensions (180px x 70px) and ideally higher image quality (PNG format please). There are over 1300 units so maybe we can split work? Does anyone want to participate in this?

We could do this over time as well as I could just implement the unit image feature in the UNT and all the units would initially only have a placeholder image. We could be adding images in smaller batches, gradually.

I have all the unit images now thanks to Adherbal . I also wanted to thank all others who reached out to me in order to help me get this done. I will be working on adding them to the Unit Navigator Tool this weekend.

With the DLC Sandstorm coming soon (May 16th) there will be many changes.

The batch of unit pictures I have already contains Sandstorm DLC units so there should be no problem there. I will still have to make a separate game data files update after the release. I expect this to be done the weekend after the release.
