Now that spring is finally here in the States (hopefully ), my thoughts inevitably turn to summer, the Steam Summer Sale, and what I want to add to my library for play over the winter.

Anyone care to recommend any games similar to Panzer Corps? Especially the single-player campaigns?

Warhammer 40:000 : Armageddon would be the obvious recommendation, unless you like Panzer Corps solely because of its theme. I liked the game for the same reasons I liked Panzer Corps, especially the single player campaigns. The similarities between the games were enough to keep the learning curve low, while still having distinct differences in game play and, of course, theme. I was never into WH40K, but that didn´t keep me from enjoying that game. The replay value is lower, so overall, Panzer Corps, after all updates, is the better game.

I highly recommend Germany at War: Barbarossa 1941. It has a campaign and many scenarios. I actually like it as well or better than Panzer Corps. A nice thing is that Ronald Wendt is still supporting the game. Check out the game over at the Matrix site. It's in the Current Games WWII part of the forum.

Ah, if only I COULD spend the winter obliterating Sims with artillery and airstrikes.

While waiting for Panzer Corps 2 I look forward to new Battletech game. That will be a lot of fun, i guess.

Order of Battle is quite good, with detailed naval combat, then there will be Klotzern Panzer Game releasing in the summer, but yeah, Battletech is something im waiting for eagerly (releases tomorrow)

in tacticals like panzer corps, you have:

- battle academy 1 et 2
- elven legacy
- jagged alliance back in action
- open general
- unity of command
- order of battle

If you are open to trying games released in the 90s, I would recommend SSI's Fantasy General, which is based on the Panzer General engine and combat mechanics. It's available on GOG at an affordable price. Also, the game is relatively bug-free (Sovereignty, I'm looking at you).

A game that is relatively up to date and similar to PzCrps:

- Panzer Tactics HD - a real (and pretty good) PanGen clone
- Order of Battle: World War II - it's Order of Battle ...

Other games that are more like the "Hearts of Iron" series or "Civilization" series:

- Making History: The Calm and the Storm Gold Edition - a global strategy game with control components for business, politics and science, but not as complex as the HoI series
- Making History II: The War of the World - the second part...
- Classic Wargames [Bundle] - Various games of moderate quality

While I have yet to find a game that matches PC in its particular niche, I can suggest a fine, captivating game that is "one step up" the ladder of complexity.

Hearts of Iron 3. 4 is out but not as good. 3 is less expensive and will keep you busy all summer in a single campaign.

1936, pick a nation, go. One can start later as well, and there are pre-set up scenarios. Very granular, and the AI can be set to handle everything that you do not wish to.

Germany is the favorite of course, but trying to win as France or Rumania for instance, can be fun. Japan is a challenge as is Italy. USA is a boring "win" button.

i discover an awesome PC game of 2020 like pzc , i just would like to share it, it is HEX OF STEEL . The IA is incredible smart , no limit of turns , good supply system, many campaigns , i think it is a great unknow game. Free demo of full game on steam.

panzer general III scorched earth (whole grand campaign from Poland to Moscow - excluding France), panzer general 3d assault (whole west campiagn from France to Washington).

Checked it, looks very interesting, although at first glance its icon based, no animations, I might be wrong didnt see the demo yet

Another similar game 2014, John Tiller's Campaign Series, based on east-west front.
Check it on matrix games.
