Typo in Alexander's List

In the Alexandrian Macedonian list, there are entries for Greek Mercenary Hoplites.

Traditional Hoplites: 0-8
Iphikratean Hoplites: 0-8

But the group total is 0-36.

I'm guessing that should be 0-16...?

Don't get me wrong, I love my little Xyston Hoplites, but 36 seems to be a bit much...

Not in my copy.

The BG size for the trad hoplites and the Iphikrateans are both 6-8 (which I think you may be misreading) but the total bases allowed of the two types combined is correctly 0-36.

Alternatively one of us has an odd copy ...

In my copy of Immortal fire the numbers are:

Traditional hoplites BG size 6-8
Iphikratean hoplites BG size 6-8
Total number of bases of either type 0-36

You could have 6 BGs of 6 Iphikrateans if you want.

Ah, you're right. Sorry, my mistake!

D'oh!

Edit: While we're at it, how would you recommend deploying the Pezhetaroi/Foot Companions?

Blocks of 12 - frontage of 3, depth of 4?

Was that a bad question...?

The matter has been debated at length in various threads. The upshot is that some people prefer 8s and some prefer 12s. There is no clear cut better size. Both should be deployed 4 ranks deep. A few people prefer 10s and deploy them 5 ranks deep to allow for base losses, but this does sacrifice deployment width - already an issue with pikes deployed 4 deep.

Ah, that makes sense. I was wondering if there was some sort of consensus on the matter.

I'll try both methods, and see how it works out.

Thanks for the reply!
