Upgrading units in campaigns.

Where is it determined into what unit an upgraded unit turns?

I’ve made two new units to have the imperial slack and raw legionaries look more imperial, based on the legionaries model.
During the campaign it looks as if the new raw legionaries, called R_Legionaries, turn into the standard slack legionaries, based on the republican model.
I want them to turn into my new S_Legionaries. How do I do that?

The upgrade path is defined in the Squads file, column BO (headed “##1”). Just insert the name (from column A) of the unit the unit will upgrade to.

Note that the unit won't upgrade until it reaches the full Experience and Elan required for the new type, but because the quality names cover a range of values a unit will start being reported as Superior (for example) before those parameters reach the required level for a normal Superior unit.

So an average unit that upgrades to a superior unit may be reported as superior for a battle or two before it upgrades to the new type.
