Artillery & Cohesion Tests

Suppose I have 4 light artillery shooting at a 8-base unit. I score 4 hits. Does this qualify for the "more than 1 reason to test" since I inflicted both 2 shooting hits from artillery & 1 HP3B?
If this is the case, then the modifier to the cohesion test for the above example would be an impressive -3 ...
-1 group suffering 1 HP2B from shooting
-1 shot at by artillery
-1 more than one reason to test
Thanks!

Being shot at by artillery doesn't cause a test by itself. You still need to do the 1hp3 to force a test. Being shot at by artillery is an extra -1.

(I just typed up a response and then lost it, so sorry if this is somehow a double post)
I think they are separate triggers per page 112 ...
* test a battle group after all shooting dice have been rolled if it suffered either of the following:
- 1HP3B
- 2 shooting hits if shot at by artillery
And I think the -1 artillery is a separate modifier altogether since any of the following conditions could apply:
Example: 8 base BG being shot at by artillery (and possible support shooters as well)
2 hits = cohesion test @ -1 (shot at by artillery)
3 hits = cohesion test @ -2 (shot at by artillery & more than one reason to test modifier)
4 hits = cohesion test @ -3 (shot at by artillery, more than one reason to test & 1HP2B modifier)
Thoughts?

I think the "more than one reason to test" does not apply in this case. It applies when testing for seeing multiple BGs broken and/or commaders lost.
Only one post combat test is required when shot at, if either of aforementioned the conditions are met. So a BG of 8 taking at least 2 hits would check if some of the firers were artillery, otherwise if taking 3 or more hits. If taking 4 hits it would be at -1 for =/>1HP2B from shooting, and if at least one base of artillery had fired at them, -1 for being fired on by artillery.

This is just one reason to test it is just there are two ways that the reason can be triggered.

I think it is plainly two seperate causes of test. If they take 2 hits from Arty its a reason to test. If they take 1HP3B its a reason to test. 2 reasons to test.
Your answer Nik is just like saying units routing and generals killed is the same test caused by different triggers.

Nik's reply is correct.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, I too think that logically they are two reasons to test, but if the game designers intend it not to be that is good enough for me.
Thanks for all of your feedback!
Cheers!

Have you been taking rules lessons from Ruddock?
Check page 112 - the bullet items are the individual reasons to test.

We just ignoramarus our way through things up here, with Hammy trying ineffectively to keep us in line.

Well I suppose Hammy is a better authority than Ruddock, just ...
