good post David! It would be good to put on the forum a list of all projected comps for 2009 as far as the organisers can predict so the likes of us with heavy family and work commitments can schedule in what we can. I find the 3 or 4 months notice often given a bit frustrating sometimes. I did notice the guys on the French forum were trying to do a whole year schedule spread around the country. I expect this forward planning and coordination will be even more important as FOG seems international and the idea of "world rankings" really only makes any sense if players from the FOG nations play each other from time to time.

I too would like to play in a 25mm tournament or two - they seem very thin on the ground in the UK.

With six months notice I have a fighting chance of getting organised otherwise it can be pretty difficult

I assume he means Britcon. Details will appear on the BHGS site http://www.bhgs.co.uk - it should be the same weekend that it was this year so if you check this years dates and find the same weekend next year you're sorted :P

Nik...or anyone else knowledgable...is there anywhere I can go to to see a calendar of competitions in the Uk next year?

If there isn't, is anyone able to publish this?...preferably with the key comps from other parts of the world included, too?

Well the BHGS site is being redeveloped and part of the plan is to include a calendar with all the comps we know about - but you'll have to wait for the relaunch for that (no date as yet).

Otherwise you could check out the upcoming tournament topic on this forum where there is a compilation of all the ones that have been notified on this fourm (updated now and again when I have time and remember 8) ).

There will be 25mm comps at the BHGS Challenge (Ascott in April), Britcon (Manchester in August), Roll Call (not sure of the date for next year), Warfare (Reading in November), Oxford (it seems likely February near Oxford) and there may well be one or three in the South West.

There are several tournaments in Scotland but as yet none in 25mm.

Schiltron in Glasgow, The Doubles in Luncarty and the Scottish Open in Luncarty.

It is possible that there are 25mm players in Scotland, we found at the MAWS club that almost all the FoG players had 25mm armies but none of them ever used them because they all thought nobody else had 25mm so didn't try to find games. For the last few weekd there have been 1 or 2 25mm games every week and 5 or 6 players at least have played.

It might be worth your while (assuming by North of Manchester you mean Scotland) getting in touch with Hunter Hope or George Dick.

Err no but the only tournaments I am aware of that significantly North of Manchester but still in England are the ones at Vapnatack in York and a few in the Preston area, none of which have yet even had a FoG comp although Vapnatack next year will have FoG in the Northern League I guess.

I realise that there is plenty of England North of Manchester, it just seems that there are very few tournaments up that way.

Couldn't be much further from Scotland (on this island) but there will be a FoG competition in 25mm at the the Plymouth convention -31st January, 1st February. I believe there are regular flights from Glasgow

I have manged about a dozen games in 25mm between the Falkirk, Stirling and Washington clubs. I don't play a huge number of tournamnts but in the past I have found them a great learning experience to really get up to speed with a set of rules.

It might be worth asking George Dick if he is willing to offer a 25mm comp at Schiltron next year. It could be that there a lots of players with 25mm armies and if none of you ask you won't get.
