Fighter strafing runs

Fighter strafing runs do not enable ground units to recover their efficiency. This can be really annoying in Multiplayer considering those machinegun attacks yield in 0 damage most of the time. Since some fighters actually were used in fighter-bomber role excluding all fighter class to efficiency recovery rules would not seem right but if in order to prevent efficiency recovery fighter would need to deal 1 damage minimum this could work just fine.

If this is correct, it actually seems fine to me.

I mean I wouldn´t be able to recover much under the strafing guns of squadron of fighters even if they dont actually hit me.

I´m gonna have to incorporate this into my own tactics.

I'm perfectly fine with how it is now personally. I use this tactic both in SP and MP to keep units that have been pulled off the line from recovering their efficiency.

It feels fine as it is as you're losing the opportunity to do a proper attack with that fighter.

+1 for keep as it is. Quite useful indeed.

This works fine as you suppress the enemy, no matter if someone gets hurt or not. This is like the tactic of the Soviet night witches with their outdated planes which tried to disturb the Germans' sleep during the night: no rest, no recovery.

I'm definitely for keeping the mechanic as it is. Also, note that OOB actually uses decimal damage points. Even if you see 0 displayed on the damage dealt you are actually dealing decimal damage. This adds up and eventually produce a damage point. For example, if you make 3 strafing runs with each showing 0 damage you are likely to score a single damage point (of course this depends on specific situation). And no, it's not caused by randomised damage outcome. I made extensive testing to verify this mechanic.

Good point, as Mojko said. I often finish off a unit with fighters if I already have air auperiority. Sometimes it takes 3-4 hits to finish off an infantry/tank with high air defense, but they die eventually and it's not random but rather cumulative decimal damage.

OK. You convinced me to take a look at it from another angle. I will just have to deliver it to opponent more often than he does to me to make it less annoying.

Hide your infantry in forest/cities and get your tanks out of sight of the planes before trying to regain efficiency.

Yeah, I know the tactics. What also helps is to have AA in the rear to cluster ground (and air!) units around.
